- I just purchased a Best Data 1442VF (It's a voice and fax modem with
- 14.4K data). It uses a Rockwell chipset for Class I fax and voice/data.
-
- So the problem is I want to use this modem to receive faxes and answer
- voice calls. But if I recall correctly mgetty doesn't do class 1 faxes
- and another program which does it (hylafax) can't do voicemail.
-
- Is there a way to have hylafax handle all the faxes and still have vgetty
- handle all the voice calls?
-
-
- I also have a problem with getting vgetty to just answer the voice
- messages.
-
- I compiled the mgetty and vgetty stuff, installed them, placed
- the vgetty line in the /etc/ttys file. When the phone rings, the modem
- picks up. I see a message on the console and a more detailed one in /tmp.
-
- The first problem is that I can't get the modem to play any greeting.
- Does vgetty work with .vox files? Or do the .vox files need to be
- converted to something before vgetty and my modem can use it?
-
- The second question is that the voice program runs into an error (the log
- shows an error) saying something about ZFAX Header not found (or a message
- similar to that effect). Is vgetty configured wrong?
-
-
- Thanks for any help. I'm using FreeBSD 2.1R with mgetty 0.22.
